Solving Uniquely Human Issues

An article in this week's Economist shines light on an issue faced by choirs around the world: not enough tenors. A lack of tenors in the world’s choirs is a uniquely human problem that isn’t likely to be solved by technology -- unless we decide as a society we are ok with robot singers.

It’s heartening to see coverage in a major outlet like the Economist about issues specific to our humanity. The tenor issue isn’t something likely to be solved by AI’s promises of efficiency, productivity, or financial gains but instead by giving greater focus to those areas -- like music -- that make us truly human.
